Peshawar 08 April, 2019 :Local Council Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned provincial government of province if decision of abolishing District tier of local governments is not reversed.Addressing a press conference at Peshawar press club the President of the association.
Mr.Hemayatullah Mayar threatened to go on streets to compel government to reconsider what he called unconstitutional and anti people amendments in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Govt Act 2013 which may be likely introduced in the provincial assembly this month.
President of LCA KP was flanked by the convener of association and District Nazim Malakand Ahmad Ali shah and secretary information Mr Ali haider and other leaders of the association the first step association delegation will meet provincial assembly members and specially parliamentary parties to apprise them of their stand,he informed media persons.
If government go ahead with its plan to abolish district chapter of local governments then association will be left no option to resort to street agitation,he added.He however said that association will also knock the doors of courts against the proposed amendments if passed by provincial assembly.
He said abolishing District chapter of local government will be death of elected local governments and through proposed amendments all financial,administrative and financial powers of local governments will be shifted to bureaucracy in violation of the constitution pf Pakistan and specially its Article 140-A which states that all administrative,financial and political powers will be exercised by elected representatives of the local governments
