Pi Network Mainnet Launch Date Finally Unveiled? celebrating pi2day 2024 .
Pi2Day 2024 marks a pivotal moment for Pi Network as we approach the launch of Open Network, representing our final Pi2Day before this landmark event! Since outlining the Open Network conditions in December 2023, our community, including the Core Team, developers, and Pioneers, has made tremendous strides, positioning us solidly on the path towards achieving our goals.
Today’s Pi2Day celebration is packed with updates on our progress towards Open Network, highlighting product advancements since Pi Day (March 14, 2024), introducing new releases, and previewing upcoming initiatives designed to propel us closer to our Open Network objectives. We’re also excited to kick off the Pi2Day Open Network Challenge, a community event to commemorate this significant milestone!
Progress on Open Network Conditions:
We’re pleased to share updates on the three key conditions for Open Network:
- Technology and Product Readiness: The Core Team remains focused on finalizing preparations across technology, product, business, and legal fronts, ensuring alignment with our Open Network strategies.
- KYC, Migration, and Utility Creation Goals:
- KYC: Our community has surpassed 12 million KYC’ed Pioneers, up from 9.45 million in March 2024, with ongoing improvements and community mobilization efforts.
- Mainnet Migrations: Currently, 5.79 million Pioneers are on Mainnet, with enhancements boosting migration efficiency and completion rates.
- Pi Apps: Over 70 Mainnet or Mainnet-ready Pi apps now contribute to our ecosystem, up from 50 in March 2024.
- External Environment: We’re carefully timing the Open Network launch to optimize success, navigating potential impacts from global events in both crypto and traditional business ecosystems.
Advancements Towards Open Network:
Since Pi Day 2024, the Core Team has been actively advancing our readiness for Open Network. Key highlights include significant enhancements in KYC processes, optimizations for Mainnet migrations, updates to Node functionalities, and the introduction of new features such as on-chain lockups for Mainnet migrated Pioneers.
- KYC Enhancements: We’ve implemented new validation methods and features to streamline the KYC process, addressing stuck applications and improving user experience.
- Mainnet Migrations: Speed enhancements have doubled migration rates, with further improvements planned for Q3. The new on-chain lockup feature incentivizes long-term engagement and ecosystem stability.
- Nodes: Updates to Node versions and preparations for Testnet-Mainnet blockchain transitions are underway, supporting scalable and decentralized computing capabilities.
Platform and PiNet Developments:
Q2 witnessed significant progress with the introduction of the Pi Ad Network and enhancements in PiNet and Developer Tools, bolstering ecosystem sustainability and utility creation.
- Pi Ad Network: Designed to support Pi apps with Pi cryptocurrency transactions for advertisements, enhancing app viability and sustainability.
- PiNet: Increased adoption among Pi apps and improvements, including geolocation support, aimed at enriching user experience and functionality.
Pi App Incubator: The successful conclusion of the first cohort has empowered community Pi apps through mentorship and grants, paving the way for a second cohort to further accelerate app development.
Introducing Pi Social Profiles:
Today, we’re excited to unveil Pi Social Profiles, enhancing social connectivity within the Pi Network. Pioneers can now personalize their profiles, connect with peers, and integrate profiles across various Pi ecosystem components.
Fireside Forum: Ongoing improvements in decentralized moderation and engaging events like Art Festivals have enriched community interactions, fostering a vibrant social experience.
Upcoming Initiatives Crucial for Open Network:
- 6-Month KYC Grace Period: Starting July 1st, 2024, this initiative aims to facilitate smoother KYC and migration processes, ensuring all Pioneers transition to Mainnet efficiently.
- Testnet and Mainnet Blockchain Preparation: Plans for seamless Node transitions and future Mainnet migrations are underway to support network scalability and operational robustness.
