World Kidney Day observed in Rehman Medical Institute, Peshawar
Peshawar: To mark ‘World Kidney Day’ an awareness walk was held on Thursday in Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) Peshawar.
The walk was aimed to raise awareness about kidney health and how to reduce risks of kidney diseases. RMI Consultant Transplant Dr. Taqi Toufeeq Khan led the walk which was also participated by doctors, medical students and staff in large number. Later on talking to media, Dr. Taqi Khan and other said that blood pressure and diabetes are the major causes for kidney diseases and high blood pressure can also lead to kidney failure. They stressed upon the people for a regular medical checkup at-least once a year to know they have no problem of high BP and sugar.
They said that kidney diseases are curable and patients can be recovered with early diagnose and proper treatment. They said dialysis is a painful process therefore we must care about the health of our kidneys. Dr. Taqi was of the view that kidney diseases can be inherited to offspring. He stressed for use of adequate clean drinking water on daily basis and said that women particularly pregnant women must be careful of their health to avoid kidney diseases.
