UCLA Professor Stanley Wolpert 1927-2019

The Famous and the most prominent scholar on South Asian history Stanley Wolpert passes away. He was the Professor emeritus for South Asian Studies at UCLA.
He was an American Historian, Ideologist, and the author of political and intellectual history of modern India and Pakistan. Generations of students have read and been shaped by his monumental work. He was the author of most celebrated books like ”Jinnah of Pakistan”, ”Ghandhi’s Passion”, ”Zulfi Bhutto of Pakistan”, ”The Shameful Flight and Nehru: A Tryst with Destiny.
In 1982, he penned ”Jinnah of Pakistan” which earned him overnight fame in Pakistan, he mentioned Jinnah the Statesman with these lines ” Few Individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation-state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three”.
